Why Brigit?

In ancient Celtic tradition, Brigit (also known as Brigid) was a beloved and widely venerated goddess of healing, poetry and the hearth. She is a triple goddess of immense power and deep compassion, worshipped across Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the wider Celtic world from as far back as the Iron Age.

Her name, derived from the Old Irish "Bríg", means the Exalted One. She was the daughter of the Dagda, the All-Father of the Tuatha Dé Danann, and her influence spanned three sacred fires: the flame of healing, the flame of poetry and inspiration, and the flame of the forge.

Brigit has always been closely associated with nature and renewal. Her festival, Imbolc, celebrates the beginning of spring—a time when the land begins to awaken after winter and new life quietly emerges. She reminds us that the natural world moves in seasons, not shortcuts, and that the best things are cultivated patiently rather than rushed.
